The contribution of St. George's University of London on the iASiS Dementia use case
At present, dementia research is happening on a scale that has not previously been possible due to the quantity and quality of information that has become available. The current wealth of electronic health records (EHR’s), genetic and lifestyle information has opened up the opportunity for qualitative, as well as quantitative, dementia use cases to be formed.
In this respect, iASiS partner, St. George's University of London (SGUL) led the dementia use case of the iASiS platform. The team of experts at SGUL, headed by Professor of Neurology, Peter Garrard, has contributed significantly in the selection and access of dementia data sources, the creation of a data management plan and the build-up of dementia use cases. The datasets for use were identified (UK-Biobank, UKCRIS, OPTIMA, Dementia Platform UK) and then analysed, visualised and finally employed for the Dementia use case.
Furthermore, the team at SGUL identified user requirements and prepared the material for iASiS's platform user evaluation. With this addition the iASiS project is now able to take into account user feedback, identify and modify accordingly the platform’s technical aspects that will further improve the user experience.
Ultimately SGUL made sure that the data collection and integration were executed with precision, thsu paving the way for a new more personalised era in medicine.
